  || XS Media Announces Most Affordable Gigabit Internet in Oregon || March 13, 2017 (Eugene, OR) – XS Media, the leader in regional fiber optic Internet, announced the most affordable residential gigabit Internet service in the State of Oregon. 1 gigabit residential Internet service for just $59/mo. This super-fast Internet enables their users to download a high-definition movie in under 40 seconds, or 100 songs in about 3 seconds. The service is 1,000% faster than the nearest competitor and is less expensive than the well-known service, Google Fiber.
XS Media’s new Internet service means that Internet can now be affordable for anyone all while enjoying the fastest speeds in the state. At 1Gbps (1,000Mbps), consumers can now use the Internet for their TV, phone, and other needs, potentially eliminating those expensive monthly services. With $59/mo Internet and no term commitments or install fees, they have closed the technology divide in the community. XS Media’s new Internet gives consumers 1,000% more speed from a local provider headquartered in the community they serve.
XS Media has been offering their Gigabit Internet services to businesses since 2015 and looks forward to offering this new best in class residential service. Recently, they’ve been working with several property owners and managers to extend their fiber-optic Internet. Olive Lofts, a redevelopment project in downtown Eugene, owned by Granite Properties, is scheduled for completion in the Summer of 2018. The building will be constructed with fiber in mind, giving tenants access to world-class services from a friendly, local service provider.
XS Media has also been working with Bennett Management Company (BMC), to offer services at Park Place Apartments. Sarah Bennett, Principal at BMC said, “We believe having access to fiber gives our buildings a distinct competitive advantage by providing the most advanced technology to our tenants.”
XS Media also has their eye to projects outside of the downtown area as well. They are in discussions with Amazon Corner, a mixed-use redevelopment project in South Eugene, with building construction scheduled to start sometime in spring 2017.
They’ve also been working on a project to offer residential gigabit Internet to an unnamed Springfield neighborhood. Fiber service is expensive to construct and it will be some time before the majority of the Eugene and Springfield communities can benefit, but XS Media does have their eyes set outside just downtown Eugene.
From HD video streaming, such as Twitch, 4k, or Facebook Live Feeds, to new virtual reality applications, online gaming, and even general Internet browsing, gigabit Internet will drastically change what is possible in a home. Being connected to fiber brings a home into the 21st Century and allows a family to stay better connected to people and things they love. With XS Media’s new residential gigabit fiber, the Internet is faster than ever, all while saving money.
